Danby Products Limited, PO Box 1778, Ontario, Canada N1H 6Z9Danby Products Inc. GROUNDINGINSTRUCTIONSThis appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock by providing an escape wire for theelectrical current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug must beplugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded. Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult aqualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubtexists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION CORDUse an exclusive wall outlet. Do not connect your freezer to extension cords or together with any otherappliance in the same wall outlet. IMPORTANT WARNINGAn empty freezer is a very dangerous attraction to children. Remove either the gasket, latches, lids or doorsfrom unused appliances, or take some other action that will guarantee it harmless. INSTALLATIONRemove exterior and interior packings, wipe the outside thoroughly with a soft dry cloth and the inside with awet, lukewarm cloth. Avoid placing the cabinet in a narrow recess or near any heat source, direct sunlight, ormoisture. Let air circulate freely around the cabinet. Keep the rear of the freezer 5 inches away from thewall. Select a place with a strong, level floor. Allow 5 inches of space between the back of the freezer and any adjacent wall. Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating. Heat sources nearby willcause higher electricity consumption. Too much moisture in the air will cause frost to form very quickly on theevaporator, and your freezer will have to be defrosted more frequently. OPERATIONTo avoid vibration, the unit must be set level. The refrigerator temperature will vary depending on the quantity of thefood stored, and on the frequency with which the door is opened. If the refrigerator is notbeing used for long periods, disconnect the plug and leave the door partially open. This will help to reducemold and mildew from accumulating inside the refrigerator. The defrost cycle is initiatedimmediately. Hold a dishcloth soaked in hot water against the thermostatcapillary line and bracket, located on the underside of thefreezer compartment. This will resumenormal operating conditions. Defrosting may take a few hours, dependingon the amount of accumulated ice and ambient indoortemperature. To speed up the defrosting process, remove allfrozen foods from the freezer section. Leaving the doorpartially ajar for a short period of time will also speed upthe process. You must remember to close the refrigeratordoor before the defrost cycle terminates and normaloperating conditions resume automatically. The drip trayshould be in position directly below the freezercompartment to catch condensed water during defrosting. DO NOT ALLOW THE REFRIGERATOR TOCONTINUE OPERATION IF THE FREEZERCOMPARTMENT IS PIERCED. After defrosting is complete, set the control to maximumfor 2 to 3 hours before returning to the desired position. When the refrigerator is not to be used for a long period oftime, disconnect the appliance from the electrical supplyand leave the door partially open. Wait 3 to 5 minutes beforeDEFROSTattempting to restart the refrigeratorif operation has been interrupted. Forcontrolling the temperature insidethe refrigerator. Turns the motor onas soon as the temperature risesabove the desired level. Separate freezersection holds ice cube tray andsmall items. Ice cubes areeasily removed from tray. Odorresistant, rustproof, and removablefor easy cleaning. Catches the water that drips off the evaporator when defrosting. Tight fitting door seal keeps all the cool air locked inside. For tall, medium, and large bottles, cans or jars. ICE CUBE TRAYIce cube tray is flexible. If the ice cube tray isfrozen hard to the evaporator surface, run a little water over the tray. Never use aknife or other metal instrument to remove ice cube tray as this may damage theevaporator. INSTRUCTIONS recommend someone assist you during the door reversal process.
